Spotify album cover size
3000 × 3000 is our practical export suggestion, not Spotify’s mandatory size. Its official page lists a broader square-image range, along with color and encoding requirements. If you release through a distributor, check that distributor’s upload rules first.
Apple Music album cover size: 3000 or 4000 pixels?
Apple’s delivery asset guide and Apple Music for Artists publish different specifications. Keep them separate: the delivery guide recommends 3000-pixel square artwork, while the Artists guide specifies at least 4000 pixels. Follow your actual submission route and keep a high-resolution original.

DistroKid and CD Baby album cover size
These upload services have their own format and size rules. Select the one you use before exporting. A technically suitable image can still need changes if its text, quality or release information does not meet the service’s policies.
Bandcamp album cover size
Bandcamp asks for square album art with a minimum of 1400 × 1400 pixels. Its design tutorial does not specify every file-format or file-size limit, so those checks are marked unverified here.
SoundCloud album cover size: track or distribution?
Updating a track on your SoundCloud profile is a different operation from distributing a release to other stores. Select the matching route above. The two official pages list different technical requirements; the ordinary track limit must not be applied to distribution by assumption.
YouTube Music and TuneCore album cover size
YouTube’s Art Track resource guide is for music-label and distributor partners, not ordinary video thumbnails. Its requirements appear as a reference, without a separate Art Track export workflow.
TuneCore’s own guide provides some artwork advice, but it does not establish every current upload restriction. Check your submission screen or support guidance before relying on a file.

Why was my album cover rejected? Check size and content
Pixel dimensions are only part of artwork review. Check these areas before submitting again:
- Size and shape: compare the actual downloaded file with your upload route’s requirements.
- Format and file size: changing a filename does not convert an image. Check the exported file’s format and bytes.
- Visible quality: look for blur, jagged text, stretching and accidental crops. More output pixels cannot restore missing detail.
- Release information: check artist names and titles against the information submitted for your release.
- Rights and content: confirm that you can use the image and that its content follows the destination’s policies.
We do not automatically read your artwork text, verify copyright or make the distributor’s approval decision.
The album cover size checks pass, but the upload still fails
Open the downloaded file to confirm that it is readable, and check that you selected the intended export. Try a supported format, a simple filename and another supported browser. Then review the destination’s exact error message. Color encoding, DPI, release metadata and service-side upload problems may require the distributor’s help.

Album cover size FAQ
What size should an album cover be?
A common album cover size is 3000 × 3000 pixels, with a square aspect ratio. It is a practical target rather than a universal minimum: check the service you actually upload to before exporting.
Is 3000 × 3000 enough for Spotify?
It is within Spotify’s published 640–10000-pixel square range. Your artwork dimensions must also meet the distributor’s requirements, and pixels alone do not confirm encoding or content approval. Do not enlarge a small original just to reach 3000.
What if my cover is not square?
Crop it to a square or keep the full image with a background. Review the edges and thumbnail previews before downloading. Added borders or excessive empty space may still be unsuitable for your destination.
Should I use JPG or PNG?
Choose a format accepted by your upload route. JPG can produce smaller files; PNG can preserve sharp graphic edges and transparency. Conversion does not automatically fix color or content issues.
What resolution should album art be?
For digital releases, album cover size means pixel dimensions, not the DPI label. Keep a detailed original and use the destination’s minimum and recommended pixel values. Changing DPI does not restore missing detail.
Does a preview prove that my file is RGB or sRGB?
No. A browser being able to display the image does not confirm its original encoding or color profile. Unchecked color properties remain marked unverified.
Do I need a different size for Apple Music?
The right dimensions depend on the submission route: Apple’s delivery guide recommends 3000-pixel square artwork, while Apple Music for Artists asks for at least 4000 × 4000. Select the matching guide or your distributor above.
Is this the same as Spotify Canvas or Apple motion artwork?
Static album cover size and motion specifications are different. Spotify Canvas uses a vertical 9:16 visual lasting 3–8 seconds; Apple motion artwork has its own delivery formats. Is my cover uploaded anywhere?
The checker, cropper and image export run locally. Your selected image is not uploaded by this tool. Moving to the homepage does not automatically transfer it; you can choose a file there separately.
Why can a file still be rejected after these checks?
The tool only checks the technical fields shown in the report. Unverified encoding properties, text, rights, content and release information can still affect review. Use your distributor’s error message to identify the next step.
